A few words about yourself.I have been windsurfing for 27 years. I am married and am the father of three. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where we are blessed with wind nine months or so of the year and I am lucky enough to have an understanding wife and friends who help me push my sailing.
What makes your ride? That feeling of total freedom to try anything you can think up waves or freestyle . The pure adrenaline of landing something new! I live to sail waves and freestyle. What makes me ride is the burning desire to windsurf and to get the next wave and learn the next trick. After windsurfing I come home happy and sore, but stoked. The ocean rules.
How much do you love to windsurf? It’s hard to say-after 27 years, it’s been such a part of my life. From those first years on Kauai to now I love windsurfing now more than ever! The sensation of planning across the water, jumping, riding waves freestyle, it’s all good! It’s hard to describe to someone who doesn’t windsurf-if you do, you know.
What is your most memorable session? My most memorable session was a cold spring day with my two daughters sailing across the lagoon, with one of my daughters perched on the nose of my board screaming how much she loved windsurfing. Second was a perfect 3rd reef Streamer lane with 3 guys out.
What inspires you?My family (wife Cynthia, daughters Audrey & Emma, and son Gabriel), music, learning new moves, and the fact that my mother is kicking the s*&% out of cancer for the second time. Watching Francisco and Levi sailing Waddell and Levi’s Shakas in the pit on overhead surf! SICK
Describe your gear and the conditions you use it in.I use the Goya Eclipse, Levi’s sail, from 5.3-3.4. From wave sailing to freestyle. These sails give me the perfect balance of power, control and maneuverability with a new school feel. Unbelievable range and with mast lengths, which means less masts to carry around and a nice compact sail.
What does riding for Goya mean to you?Riding for Goya is a dream come true because the crew at Goya make the best sails on the planet.Period. The quality, research and development ,attention to detail is unmatched, thanks to Francisco, Diffen, Levi, and the crew at Goya. Every time I rig up these sails I smile and know how much better they are than any other sails out on the water. Which gives me even more motivation to push my limits.
